Description:
Spring on the fabled Eastern Shore of Virginia arrives with an abundance of wading birds, shorebirds, and other coastal wildlife. In addition to the wildlife of Chincoteague, we’ll also explore the wild coastal landscapes of Assateague Island National Seashore. Here we’ll greet early morning sunrises, roam the beach for shorebirds and close-up opportunities of seashells and other macro subjects, and maybe even photograph a pelican or two. Along the auto tour route drives and hiking trails on the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, we’ll photograph muskrats, frogs, and a host of birds, such as heron, egrets, and songbirds. Along the tidal channels we’ll search for river otters. In the refuge’s woodlands, we’ll photograph abstract patterns of pine cones and forest ground cover and with a little bit of patience, we’ll have opportunities to photograph the rare and endangered Delmarva fox squirrel. Less we forget, we’ll be able to photograph the fabled Chincoteague ponies, too. With renowned creative photographer Bruce Haley assisting in the workshop, we’ll also explore the village of Chincoteague with its boat harbor, main street, and anything else we discover.
